Teens....How do you interpret the poem "nothing gold can stay"?

Nature's first green is gold

Her hardest hue to hold

Her early leaf's a flower

But only so an hour

Then leaf subsides to leaf

So Eden sank to grief

So dawn goes down to day

Nothing gold can stay

what are some different meanings that can be seen in the poem?

does the poem sound upsetting or encouraging to you?

{i need this info for a project i am doing}

thanks!

Teens....How do you interpret the poem "nothing gold can stay"?
The last part "nothing gold can stay" is encouraging I think, its like nothings going to stay forever so make the most of it while you have it.

I %26lt;/3 this poem by the way lol
Reply:its says the Good things don't last for a long time. that's why we should cherish it while we have it.

the message is basically dedicated for the girls since it mentioned "Eden" and "her". and most girls would love to receive gifts from their lovers.
Reply:its from the outsiders we had to do this when i was in school,

the gold is the sunrise

if you read all of the book the outsiders by se hinton pony boy explains it to johnny
Reply:thats from the outsiders i read the book in school last year nothing gold it means like well in the book it really meant nothing gold can stay when ur a kid u have it good but when u grow up it gets harder the flowers are beautiful in summer but there gone in winter nothing gold can stay u should watch the movie it explains it better
Reply:I see it as nothing can stay the same forever, no matter how much you want it to. For example, the same way a flower must turn into a leaf, a child must grow up into an adult.
Reply:Sorry, not a teen! :)
Reply:Ah, one of my favorite Poems. Basically, it translates to nothing good lasts forever. Also featured in the book "The Outsiders".
Reply:I think it mean's that nothing lasts forever and all good things must come to an end. Life is very quick. But just like the seasons, though good things must end new things will be born from the bad.
Reply:Aha, I had to do something with this last year because we were reading 'The Outsiders' is that why you are doing it?

Well this poem is pretty much saying that happiness doesn't last forever...I know that sounds really depressing but its true.

Like a sunset, it's so pretty while it last, but it doesn't last too long does it?

Yeah, pretty much just means happiness does not last forever.
