I want to plant a remembering tree.....?

So, to make a long story short, last year, I had a miscarriage, my grandmother died and my younger sister ahd a miscarriage. My mom lives on a farm, and thought it would be a great idea to plant a remembering tree. All of the events happened in fall/winter, so it would have to be a tree that didn't look like your average half-dead, no life tree in the winter, but not an evergreen. Maybe something that had different color bark, or had a pretty shape to it when all the leaves were off. (Oh, and we live in Iowa, so that narrows down some choices). I just don't know much about trees, and so I thought I would ask for help. Are there any trees that have meanings (you know, like flowers do....) that would relate? Or do you have any suggestions?

A red maple would be a great tree for this.
Reply:Here's a "language of trees" list that I found for you. I wasn't sure there was such a thing and I have no idea how they compiled it but it may help give you some ideas.

I think your idea is lovely and I hope you find your perfect tree. My sympathies to you for your losses.
Reply:Is there a tree that you remember from your childhood that could be a favorite? Mine, was a Quaking Aspen. A beautiful tree that always moved even in a slight wind...the leaves would flutter in the slight wind.....so cool. Would that help??
Reply:I would contact Dept of Aguculture of Ohio. Ask for suggestions of your request or visit as many nurseries in your area as possible. Also contact landscapers that work with cementaries. They always have beatiful landscapeing. Ask who does the work. *mamatx
Reply:How about a weeping willow - they are very distinctive with their drooping branches.
